Know Your USA is a feature packed software application designed to test and expand your knowledge of the United States of America.

Quality Map based learning
Know Your USA presents users with maps of the USA which they interact with to complete quizzes and games. The main topics covered include: Regions, States, State Capitals, Major Cities, Rivers, Mountains, Lakes, Oceanography and National Parks.

Unique learning concept
Know Your USA utilizes three styles and levels of learning, this enables the user to learn at their own pace. The Study Section - a valuable reference tool, The Quiz Section - offers a guided approach to learning, and The Examine Section - is a test of all the topics covered.

Study Section
The study section of Know Your USA is a valuable reference area and is ideal for the user to study and revise each area of the United States. In the study area the user can view a high quality map of each state, the state flag and a photo; all full screen. The School Edition also includes advance features for use with interactive whiteboards.

Quiz Section
In this area the user is presented with a guided approach to learning. The user takes the knowledge gained from Study Your USA and puts it into practice. If the user makes a mistake they are given a hint and asked to try again, if they make another error the correct answer is shown. This enables the user to learn from their mistakes and continue with the learning process in confidence.

This section consists of point and click style quizzes of each topic, this involves direct map interaction with the mouse. The quiz is helpful and corrects the user in real time if they make a mistake, and shows them where they made their mistake. This process is illustrated in the screen shots below, the user is asked to click on Texas (Step 1). If the user does not click on the correct state, they are given a hint, for example "Texas is the second largest state" (Step 2). If the user answers the question incorrect again, they are shown where the state is on the map by highlighting it in blue (Step 3). Different hints are given depending on the question asked.

Examine Section
The examine section of Know Your USA is where the user is presented with a test on all the topics covered. This section requests the user to type in the correct answer, so they also need to know the correct spelling of each feature. An optional spelling drawer (word bank) is also available which is great for users to learn the correct spellings.

The users progress is tracked and they can review how they preformed at the end of the quiz. Their progress is also stored in the Know Your USA database so they can keep track of their progress.

Great Audio
Each feature of the United States is narrated by Sarah Lane in high quality audio, a great way to learn each feature. Sarah Lane previously hosted the online television show popSiren on Revision3.

Progress tracking
Know Your USA comes complete with a user progress database, so each user can keep track of their progress and try to improve their knowledge of the United States. This enables the user to continue working from where they left off.

States Puzzle
Know Your USA comes with a great puzzle of all the states of the USA, to complete the puzzle all the states must be positioned correctly on the map. The user can also keep track of their time, and the fastest time is also recorded in the Know Your USA database.

Wikipedia Link
The Study section of Know Your USA features an optional link to the free online encyclopedia Wikipedia, this provides users with additional, photos and up-to-date information on each feature. This link can also be disabled if you wish to prevent the user from going online.

Over 50 Scenic Photos
We keeping adding to the number of photos in Know Your USA with each release, and there are now over fifty photos in the latest edition.

Quality State Maps
Know Your USA includes fantastic maps of each state in the United States of America. These maps feature the state capital, main cities, physical features, border states, and more.

Google Earth
There is a Google Earth link to all topics covered in Know Your USA, this is great for viewing local areas in depth using Google's fantastic software, a broadband connection and Google Earth is required.

Desktop Wallpaper & Screensaver
Know Your USA contains six beautiful scenic photos of the USA perfect for brightening up your computer desktop. All these photos are included in a fantastic screensaver and of course you can set any of the six as your desktop wallpaper, additional free download required.

Smartboard (Interactive Whiteboard)
Our software has been designed for use with all smartboards, and works great with them. Over 80 photos from across the United States, a detailed layered map of each state, full screen state flags, and much more adds to the learning experience. Also included is a large full screen map of each state with a selection of drawing tools, allowing the student or teacher to directly interact with each map.

School Edition - Control Panel
The teacher has access to the Control Panel, this enables the teacher to modify many areas of Know Your USA and allows close student progress monitoring and student management. This feature was designed especially for school use, and in consultation with teachers.

Printable class worksheets / Factfiles
Included are a series of printable worksheets which the teacher can print and copy. All the topics of Know Your USA are covered, they are great for class work or for home work assignments. We also provide solutions for the teacher to make corrections a breeze. These high quality worksheets are perfect for combining computer work with traditional classroom teaching, view our free sample worksheet. A factfile on each state can also be printed that include a detailed map of the state, the state flag and some brief information about the state.

The state puzzle times are also displayed in a league table. The progress tracking allows the teacher to focus on each area that students maybe struggling in.
